System Setup
Here is a drawing of a typical setup. One or more valves can be supplied from one pressure reduced water supply. With this system each basket will cycle independently of the others as needed. You can install the HBWV yourself or you can help yourself by using our optional ‘Complete Faucet Hose Kit’, and / or our ‘Wire Attaching Kit’ for a quick install. The important things to remember is that you need to supply the HBWV with a clean, filtered and pressure reduced water supply (a pressure regulator that regulates ‘Static’ pressure is required or the HBWV will not operate correctly, if at all). Be sure to install the ½” poly tubing from direct sunlight where possible, to prevent the water pressure from rising above the 25psi level.

After you have plumbed the hoses, flushed the system out and attached the HBWV to the ¼” poly tubing, turn on the water supply. Now to water the basket, look at the bottom of the HBWV. The green drain cap (with the drain holes on it) has diagrams of rain drops showing that by turning the cap clockwise will open the valve to start watering the basket. Depending in the weight of the basket, it will take more or less adjusting to reach the point of opening the water flow. When the HBWV stops the water flow into the basket, check that there is the correct amount of moisture in the basket, if not adjust accordingly. When complete, move on to the next basket. Check occasionally for the first few weeks to be sure the moisture content is correct, and then enjoy ‘Worry Free Watering’.
